What is fitness?? Simply put, fitness is the combination of exercise and nutrition to improve physical, emotional and mental health.

What is faith-based fitness?? Approaching exercise and nutrition on a foundation of scripture with the intention of honoring and glorifying God.

1 Corinthians 6:19 says What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

I started Faith-Based Fitness Coaching™ to help women make the shift from looking at their bodies through a worldly lens and begin seeing them as creations of God, having been made in his image, teaching practical tools in a supportive environment, encouraging fellowship with him through fitness.

I like to think about it like this –

bible study + fitness = cultivating fellowship with the Lord

Sometimes, making changes can feel impossible, especially with the wants of the flesh and judgment of the world, but remember, Luke 1:37 tells us that For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Lauren MARIE KELLY

My name is Lauren Marie Kellly, I’m an ISSA certified Master Personal Trainer + Fitness Coach, with a handful of specialty certifications including Nutrition, Strength + Conditioning and Transformation.

My husband and I have given our lives to the Lord, we’ve committed to living for him, doing his will, dying to our old selves daily and being vessels for the Holy Spirit to work through as we testify for Jesus. With that, we enrolled in bible college and are working on our Bachelors in Biblical Studies further immersing ourselves in the Word everyday.

For most of my life, I lived in the world and for the world. I believed that my physical body defined my value as a woman and I thought that becoming a personal trainer would “fix” it and be a way for me to help other women struggling with the same or similar issues. But it actually made it worse, a lot worse, because then my body literally defined my value as a trainer.

It wasn’t until I stopped looking at myself through a worldly lens and started seeing not just my body, but my whole self, as a creation of God, having been made in his image when everything finally changed.

I realized that taking care of my body is a way to honor and glorify him – not the world.

Psalm 139:14 says I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

This is a powerful verse that reminds us to appreciate all of the things that make us “us” – our unique individuality, our personalities, our abilities, our bodies and minds, even our perceived limitations as God’s design.

It’s very easy for women to get stuck viewing our bodies through a worldly lens, with the pressures of society and media. But the world isn’t point, the Lord is.

Romans 12:2 says And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
