What is fitness?? Simply put, fitness is the combination of exercise and nutrition to improve physical, emotional and mental health.

What is faith-based fitness?? Approaching exercise and nutrition on a foundation of scripture with the intention of honoring and glorifying God.

1 Corinthians 6:19 says What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

I started Faith-Based Fitness Coaching™ to help women make the shift from looking at their bodies through a worldly lens and begin seeing them as creations of God, having been made in his image, teaching practical tools in a supportive environment, encouraging fellowship with him through fitness.

I like to think about it like this –

bible study + fitness = cultivating fellowship with the Lord

Sometimes, making changes can feel impossible, especially with the wants of the flesh and judgment of the world, but remember, Luke 1:37 tells us that For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Get Moving!! is an in-person, group exercise class for ladies at local churches.

Exercise can contribute to feeling better physically, emotionally and mentally, by building strength, balance and coordination, while also helping to mitigate depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and low confidence.

In many cases, just 1 or 2 days a week of low intensity, simple exercises can make a huge difference!!

Exercise can –

  • build strength, balance and coordination.
  • increase energy.
  • distract you from negative thoughts.
  • be a supportive environment, cultivating friendships in Christ and sharing his word.
  • be an outlet for your frustrations, improving your ability to cope with stress and anxiety.
  • reduce skeletal muscle tension, which helps you feel more relaxed not just physically, but also emotionally and mentally.
  • improve sleep.

While the above are mainly physical, emotional and mental reasons, I don’t believe that they alone are reason enough.

1 Corinthians 6:20 says For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

I believe we should approach fitness as creations of God having been made in his image.

In addition to exercise, we’ll also address nutrition, shifting from a worldly lens to viewing it as something in which we can honor and glorify the Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:31goes on to say Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I used to teach women’s development, with an emphasis on identity. Looking back at it now, it’s terrifying – none of it had anything to do with God, it was all worldly based.

I was going through my own struggles at the time, and didn’t have a relationship with the Lord, I’d been angry with him and the church for a long time.

I have a relationship with him now, I’ve committed my life to doing for him and being a vessel for him to work through. and I recognized how the mainstream focus on “identity” is really dangerous because the focus is all on YOU, whereas our focus should be all on Jesus and living for him.

With that, I’ve written Identity in Christ, where I teach on how to shift from seeing ourselves through a worldly lens to seeing ourselves as creations of God, having been made in his image.

This is a 1:1 coaching program which includes learning to who you are in Christ, and learning to love all facets of who that is.

For some of us learning to love and accept the women in the mirror can be the hardest person we ever learn to love, especially when society and media are all up in the middle of it – that’s the problem right there. In this program, you’ll learn how to stop living for the world – and start living for God.

Stop Living
For the World

It’s very easy for women to get stuck viewing our bodies through a worldly lens, with the pressures of society and media. But the world isn’t point, the Lord is.

Romans 12:2 says And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
